Second opinions and referrals
What is a Second Opinion?
Second opinions can be requested by either a veterinary surgeon or an owner when they wish to have the opinion of another veterinary surgeon on a patients care. For example, if you see one of our junior vets they may wish to have the opinion of an Advanced Practitioner before commencing a treatment plan.
Referrals…who, what, when and how?
Despite our very experienced team and hospital facilities we may occasionally be unable to provide the care your pet requires. These are very rare circumstances and are for complex cases that may involve the spine or brain. In these circumstances we use North West Veterinary Specialists in Cheshire.
We accept referrals from other veterinary practices locally when they cannot provide the care for their own patients. An example of this could be if advanced nursing care during the night or a complex surgery is required.
